Nasri Deal Just A Handshake Away ?

If, as widely reported, Samir Nasri finally signs for City today, it will bring to an end one of the media’s longest running threads of the summer.

In our Rumour Mill features earlier in the summer, Nasri was often near the top of the league table of links to players at other clubs and would have now been far and away the leader had we updated it into August.

Now, it seems, the story is coming to a conclusion and The Sun’s Martin Blackburn leads the Press pack today, suggesting Nasri may be the last arrival of the summer for City. He writes: “Despite the wealth of talent at Mancini's disposal, he still wants Sheikh Mansour to stump up for a new central midfielder.

“The City board are likely to shut their wallet now, although a loan deal for a player who can fill the gap left by Patrick Vieira is being discussed.”

The same paper also believes Emmanuel Adebayor will head back to North London at some point on Wednesday with an unattributed piece stating: “Tottenham last night agreed a loan deal for striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

“Manchester City's ex-Arsenal hitman will have a medical today. Spurs boss Harry Redknapp saw his side soundly beaten 3-0 by Manchester United on Monday and admitted he needed new signings.

“So he has swooped for Togo ace Adebayor, who is behind Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko, Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli in the pecking order at City.”

Meanwhile, Sky Sports’ Transfer Centre has upgraded the Nasri rumours to a pair of scales – confused? You won’t be if you regularly glance at their website!

The page is updated regularly with transfer activity and even has a rolling ‘cash spent thus far counter’ of the combined transfer window total for all clubs.

If Nasri’s entry turns to a handshake – Sky’s confirmation illustration that a deal has officially gone through - the Blues will have acquired one heck of a player.
